visit with the Manning's

Grandma and Papa came to visit today. We took some pictures because Jordan was making this really cute smile with just about her whole face. Of course, when I tried to get pictures of it, she started fussing. Most of the pictures, therefore, look like she is in pain! It wasn't that bad!

Oh, and her hair is kicking because of her nap. She doesn't really enjoy having someone play with her hair yet, so I have to pick those battles carefully--I wasn't up for the fight today!

a pretty dress!

Titi Mireya (Kenneth's aunt) lives in Miami and has a very talented neighbor! She made this beautiful dress for Jordan. She modeled it today when Kenneth's parents came over...

doctor's visit with no shots!

We got home from Florida, slept a little bit, got a bath, and went to the doctor--what morecan a little girl ask for!?!
The "no shot" appointments are my favorite! Today was Jordan's 9 month well check. Yes, she's 10 months old, but we are a month behind because of the ice storm. Anyways...
she weighs 20 lbs. 10 oz. (65th %ile)
she is 28 3/4 inches long (70th %ile)
her head is 46.5 cm round (90th %ile)
Doc says she is growing fine and not to worry about her big head! It doesn't really look that big to us--she was really squirmy during that part, so maybe it's a few centimeters off?!?
Dr. Stoeber is happy with the things she's doing and the things she's not. She's crawling, babbling, pulling up. She has no teeth! You can see the outline of them just waiting to come forth, but no luck yet. We really think they've been bothering her more, though, because her tongue just keeps working and working them. Yay for Orajel!
Since she has been eating yogurt and other dairy with no problem, we can start whole milk around 11 months as opposed to waiting the full year. I'm excited to see how she will do with it. She drinks water and drinkable yogurt from her straw cups just fine, so I'm hoping there won't be anything weird with milk--time will tell!

Happy Easter

The babysitters...

Bobby and his "bug"...

Easter Sunday was a great day! We started off with waffles and crepes for breakfast and ended it with ham and all the fixin's for dinner. There was lots of family in between, so that was actually the best part! :)
Thanks to Deana and Doug for having us at their house. Thanks to Katie and Lindsay for happily Jordan-sitting just about any time of day! We had a wonderful vacation and look forward to more visits to Florida...

what, no presents for me?

That's OK, I'd rather play with the paper, anwyay...
Today was Aunt Kim's surprise 50th birthday party. This morning we went back to the Grandma's for a little visit and to play with measuring cups! But this afternoon, Aunt Kim walked right into the trap and was surprised to see the SC gang there. It was nice to get a surprise over on her, but I just missed getting to visit with her the last couple of days while we've been here. The party was lots of fun and Jordan's job was to play with the wrapping paper and bags as the gifts were opened. She earned her keep!

"swang"ginnn'

We have found a new favorite thing--the swing! Jordan was absolutely crazy about the swing at Sims Park in New Port Richey. We met some of the family there and she's a little small still for a lot of the stuff, but not this swing! She swang for a few minutes and then we got out to walk around and she was just not happy until we got back in the swing! She talked and talked the whole time she was just a "swangin'"!

visit with the "great"est grandmas!

Jordan is lucky enough to have a Great and Great Great Grandmother still alive in Florida. We went down this week to visit, celebrate a birthday (Aunt Kim) and celebrate Easter. This was our first day down there. We drove through the night so as to preserve the princess' schedule--aren't Mommy and Daddy crazy...oops, I mean, nice!
Anyway, Jordan is enthralled with a piece of the wrapping paper from her Easter present from Great Grandma--a cute outfit and a bathing suit!

no, she's not in jail!

Daddy thought this was a cute picture of the princess getting ready for bed. And no, she's not in jail (at least not yet!), she's at the gate inside our bedroom. Sometimes there just has to be a barrier between her and the dogs!

Easter fun with Trey and Heather!

Uncle Trey and Aunt Heather are the best! They came over for dinner tonight and came bearing gifts! Jordan got to open her first Easter basket! Since she can't have chocolate, Jordan got fruit puffs and mini fruits in her baskets along with some plastic eggs and even some treats for Mommy and Daddy...I told you they are the best! :)

welcome home JD!

My college roommate and her husband recently brought home their newly adopted little boy from Guatemala, James David. Since both of our husbands were busy this weekend, Katy and I planned a play date for JD and Jordan. JD is about a month younger than Jordan, but you wouldn't know it by looking at him! He is about the same weight and probably a little longer, too! The kids had a good time together and we all enjoyed playing with Maya, their 5 month old puppy. We are looking forward to more play dates with JD!

Jordan's in da house!

We have a house at school that most of the kids love to play in. Jordan has been a little hesitant with it. She usually just wants to stand up and look in through the front window and door. She likes the doorbell sounds, but the button is hard to push (even for me!). She will sometimes crawl as far as the threshold to the door, put her hands inside, but then chicken out. One day I put her in the house and that did not go over very well. Today, however, she just decided that she was ready to see what the house was all about. I looked over and she was just there--standing up looking out the window like a big girl. Of course, she had also taken the bow out of her hair, so she was pretty happy about that, too!

Yikes, Jordan, quit growing up so much!! :)

fruit girl!

Tonight was a fun little experiment! There was a wide selection of fruit on the salad bar at church. I knew she liked fruit, but I just haven't been brave enough to try a lot yet. Mainly because I don't want to buy a bunch of it and her not like it! Jordan had watermelon, strawberries, blueberries, grapes, blackberries and raspberries. According to the picture, I think it's safe to say that she liked it a little bit!

Easter Egg Hunt, Part 2

Because Jordan's school has 2 sets of days in which children can attend, we do everything twice! The lucky kids that go all 4 days get to do everything twice, too--like Easter Egg Hunts. But today was extra special because of all the people that came to see her. Kenneth, my Mom and Carroll, and Grammy came to participate. Jordan had such a good time. She patted eggs together, played with the basket and in general just was happy being her usual self!

Easter Egg Hunt!

Jordan got to play in her first Easter Egg Hunt at school today! She also seems to be working on teeth as evidenced by the strange tongue position. Of course, we've said that before...for the last, oh say, 6 months!! Regardless, she had a pretty good time playing with eggs and grass and friends on the playground.

presents are good!

A couple of weeks ago, Jordan and I went to lunch with one of the residents from the apartment community where I used to work. She is SO sweet and thoughtful. She had given Jordan a precious pink turtleneck as well as some pajamas. The weather had been so hit or miss that I wasn't sure she'd be able to wear the turtleneck. Sure enough, it got cold again (surprise!), so we were happy to wear it and show off the cute fairy on the neck. It is just the softest material and fits so well! Thank you, Mrs. Egic!! :)

a week of firsts

So this week has been a busy one with lots of "firsts"! It seems like each time I wanted to update the blog, something else happened, so I figured I would just sum up the week in one shot...

Sunday--Jordan's first fever. It was only 100.4, but I was concerned. The Christie Group said not to be, but that's easier said than done! We stayed home from church and just laid low. Her temp was back to normal by bedtime Sunday night. Who knows what it was--she still has no teeth.

Tuesday--Jordan decided today that crawling was just not enough. She pulled up to standing! Yikes...I am SOOO not ready for walking. I just keep telling her to sit down! :)

Wednesday--Jordan ate chicken today. One of her friends at school shared her chicken strips at lunch and she loved it! Kenneth brought Chik Fil A for dinner and she loved that, too. But, who doesn't love CFA??!!

Thursday--Jordan's first ear infection! I remembered someone telling me that one way to know if your child has an ear infection is if they are just not the same child that you know and love. Well, that was the only indication I had as Jordan pretty much fussed and cried all day! Teachers all up and down the hall asked me what was wrong since she was so not like herself. Luckily, Dr. Anderson set my mind at ease and we started our antibiotic tonight!

Tonight was also Jordan's first hair cut!! She had a dual rat tail in the back, so it really was time to get a trim. We went to Jelly Beans on E. North and they were great! I have a certificate with a little lock of her hair and we got lots of great pictures, too. There are some before and after shots. It's cut like a bob in the back. She just trimmed up the sides and evened things out for us.

Here's the finished product!!

a night at Nanna's

Kenneth and I have needed to do some decluttering for a while now. My Mom was delighted to oblige us and keep Jordan Friday night and the majority of Saturday so that we could work a little more efficiently. We made good progress and did some necessary baby proofing as well. Jordan has a little play room downstairs now, too! When we're home and awake, we spend most of our time downstairs, so it just didn't make much sense to keep all of her stuff in the nursery. Anyway, it's a nice change of mental pace to have the downstairs sort of opened up.

Kenneth's parents stopped by this afternoon as well. We all hung out for a little while before it was time to put Junebug to bed!

growing too fast!

Jordan is no longer in her infant carrier in the car. We installed her "big girl" car seat today. It was a little tricky, but Kenneth finally got it all figured out. It's very roomy and she seems to be pretty comfortable in it. I will miss the convenience of being able to pick up and go even if she is asleep...oh well!

a day for Mommy!

Today was the first day that Jordan went to school without Mommy! Dad gave me a gift certificate to the Spa at West End and I decided it was high time I put it to good use. I had a massage and a facial. There was even enough time for me to get my toes done!! Jordan had a good day at school and I can't wait to be able to do this again! :)

It's official!

Jordan is a crawler! She has been SOOOO close over the last few days to crawling. She would get on her knees and reach for something and then either lay on her belly or go back to sitting. After lunch she was doing more of the same but looked like she actually realized that if she moved her knees, she would propel herself. Tonight we were playing with some friends at church and the next thing you know, she is just crawling! I couldn't believe it! Thankfully, I caught Kenneth just as he was leaving work, so he was able to come by and see her make a little progress. She had a hard time getting to sleep tonight. I imagine the next few days and nights are going to be pretty interesting as she gets this whole crawling thing perfected!
